Background : Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) are carbon-based nanomaterials that have attracted considerable attention in recent years due to their unique optical, electronic, and biological properties arising from quantum confinement and edge effects. Their excellent fluorescence, high water solubility, good biocompatibility, and diverse biological activities make them promising candidates for various biomedical applications. Purpose : To review the current development of Graphene Quantum Dots, including their synthesis methods, physicochemical characteristics, antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity, and potential applications in the biomedical field.
